Here are some photos from the NYC premiere of the Moon Mirror Journey film and the panel discussion with Hayden and Rebecca after the screening. The film has since featured at the Tel Aviv festival and will continue to journey around the world. In April Hayden returns to New Zealand and will be teaching in Wellington and performing- watch the live section for details. In May Hayden will tour with a new project by Xu Fengxia and present their first duo CD early June at the Moontower foundation.

Hayden is now composing a new work to be premiered in New Dehli in March together with the IFA Horn Exhibition. The new CD “Love in Numbers” is available from the mailorder section of the website. We are also delighted to report that after all these years, Hayden will perform Haydn as part of the Summer Bruehler Schloss Konzerte series. In February Hayden performs with Dejan Terzic’s “Underground” in Basel and records in duo with John Hollenbeck.

This November Hayden will perform for the first time in Albania for a large benefit concert. The new Moontower Foundation music edition will have it’s first release in December with Hayden’s long awaited “Love in Numbers”. In his own words, it’s “by a long shot the most important work I’ve created”. 7 CD and LP releases are already planned for 2012 and the website will also be opened around the time of the first CD release in Berlin on December 16. The second major release concert  will be in the Bremen Radio Hall in February.  The second major CD release on the label will be Hayden’s duo with Fengxia Xu followed by his electric and acoustic trios featuring Jochen Rueckert, Jonas Burgwinkel, and Simon Nabatov, all recorded in 2011. The film Moon Mirror Journey with Hayden’s score continues to tour the world with screenings planned in Toronto and London soon.

We are happy to announce the website is back up and will soon be fully operational again! This site is updated and maintained by control over rebels and all queries should be addressed there. In August Hayden returns to teach is 6th annual masterclass in Greece. On September 8th in Berlin, the new film of Rebecca Horn with a new score by Hayden will have its world premiere in Berlin as a feature in the Literature festival. Here is the link to the festival page. The film sums up beautifully the last 12 years of collaboration between the artists. On September 24th Hayden will perform with Lula Pena at the new Philharmonic Hall in Thessaloniki. Plushmusic3, the annual festival at Loft curated by Hayden returns to Cologne for its third incarnation on October 6-19 and will feature this year the pianist Philip Zoubek.

After the winning the BMW Jazz prize Root70 go back on tour from Easter-see the live section for dates. In May Hayden will be recording new works for the Saxophone Octet in Berlin and in June will be a featured soloist in a new work by composer Juergen Friedrich with performances to be announced. The August master class in Greece is now online here and applications are open.

Hayden is on sabbatical till late February, working on a couple of new programs. One is for the Bihlersdorf Ofterschwang Brass band which he encountered during the film shoot this year and the other is a set for the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra with Hayden as soloist which will premiere on March 31. Mixing will also take place on the new Trio recording with Nabatov and Rueckert and editing has begun on an exciting new film by Rebecca Horn which will feature the music of Hayden.

Hayden is now on the road filming for a documentary on forgotten German folk music-shooting goes through October. The latest Root70 CD “Listen to your Women” is out and can be found at the  label page . The band will be touring again in November. Mid October Hayden will be in Japan as part of the Imperial Prize week and on the 24th he will perform solo in the Rathaus in Cologne a new work commissioned by the City of Cologne. Mid November he will be recording a new album with Jochen Rueckert and Simon Nabatov at Maarweg studios and on November 25th he presents his new trio with Achim Kraemer and Jochen Schroeder at the Loft. Early December Hayden will perform with the Fado singer Lula Pena in Berlin and then from December 4-6 his new work for 8 saxophones will be performed in Berlin and Cologne.
